Third Semester
Not only does our student body have a unique cultural diversity, but the curriculum here is second to none. We've forged an innovative idea that students tell us is one of the most valuable lessons they learn while at the Prep and parents resoundingly agree. The Third Semester is a time when the usual way of studying is abandoned and thirdsemester are taught in ways that bring the subject matter of the classroom into a real life focus. We believe that given the opportunity, it's best to learn wherever learning will be at the most optimal level - visiting a museum, walking the streets of a European city, rafting down a river. Some examples are: Italian architecture studied in Italy, tropical rain forests examined first hand in Costa Rica, poverty experienced up close and personal in Camden, a culinary arts course where students learn how to cook and manage the operating costs of a restaurant. Students learn how movies are made and then they make one. They study the philosophy of coaching and then become involved with young children. Oriental martial arts, journalism, environment, concert music, drama, military science and marine biology are just some of the other areas of exploration.
