Retreats
The Prep offers an extensive retreat program that gives students a chance to form the bond of brotherhood that is a hallmark of our education. Retreat experiences are tailored to the needs of the students and their progress in the life of the school.
Freshmen take a single evening retreat that focuses on values clarification. There are four or five different retreat dates so that the students, in groups of twenty or so, can fully participate.
The sophomores are involved in our Augustinian Volunteer program. The students, in four groups, spend a week in the city of Camden. They visit the elderly, clean the streets, serve meals to the homeless, tutor young children, do construction work and nightly have a presentation about poverty and how they can make a difference.
Juniors return to the single night format of the freshman year and this retreat focuses on identity and moral decision making. Juniors also spend a day during the year at a soup kitchen preparing and serving meals. Plans are in the works for an expanded retreat experience that will involve the students spending a week serving the needs of shut-ins and those with disabilities.
Seniors participate in one of two experiences. Most of the students choose to participate in the four day retreat which is a Cursillo-based experience. Others choose to a social action retreat which parallels the Camden experience of the sophomores.
Retreat dates for the school year will be posted when they become available.
