A wireless computer with malicious code can infiltrate and compromise the entire campus network. The Prep has installed a security device to protect the integrity of the network. To gain access to the internet, your computer must join the network. In order for that to occur:
1. You must keep your Microsoft security updates current. You must have antivirus and the definitions must be kept up to date. You cannot have P2P (peer to peer) or IM clients installed.
2. Register your computer's MAC address (physical address of the wireless adapter) with the IT department. click here to get the steps that students go thru.
3. Install the wireless testing agent on your TabletPC/Laptop by clicking here. click "Run" when prompted and follow screen instructions during installation.
4. Configure your wireless settings. click here for XP operating system instructions and screen snapshots. Vista operating system: use the same parameters as XP, but the screen snapshots are not provided at present.
